Right in line with what I think. The power of AI is both wonderful and scary. While creative writers can take some comfort in knowing that true originality can't be manufactured by machines, I feel for the thousands of advertisement copywriters, technical writers, and perhaps travelogue writers whose jobs probably can be replaced by AI.

Not to mention programmers and so many others.

So, did you give your hosts access to your own extensive body of work? Have you (just for your own curiosity) asked Claude or another AI 'author' to write as James Scott Bell?

I gave my "hosts" a blog post I wrote. They must have discussed it over coffee.

And no one can do me like me, so why bother? It would be like asking it to write a comedy sketch in the style of Mort Milder. It would be a dull, lifeless replica of the original.

I wish I could I could be sure, but, I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that...

I use AI tools to edit and evaluate what I've written. Here are some of the prompts I use:

1. Analyze this writing for the opening, dialogue, ending, and overall style.

2. Find and list all the adverbs and mark the ones that appear more than once.

3. Find and list all the adjectives and mark the ones that appear more than once and those that are unnecessary.

4. List all the superfluous words.

I don't always accept the AI results. I determine which ones I want to consider.

Will Tonto not need the Loan Ranger? Or is it the other way around?

In the words of Mr. Spock, "fascinating, just fascinating," Jim! How did you do this? It makes me vewy, vewy suspicious, though, of podcasts I do listen to. Are they real? How do I know?

The program is in Google Notebook. On the one hand, it got my ideas right on the money, which makes me think it has value for those who like to listen to such things. OTOH, it's AI which, on still another hand, is here to stay. Since it is my material, I wonder if it is "off putting" in any way to my readers, or is just another way of communicating to them. What do you think?

Knowing it was AI, I just thought of it as interesting. If I hadn't known prior to listening, I'd have been miffed for sure. The whole subject brings out the Twilight Zone music in my head. 😵‍💫
